Ski vacations Füssen - The romantic soul of Bavaria!

Füssen

At the eastern border of the Allgäu, at the foothills of the Ammergau Alps and directly on the rushing Lech river, lies picturesque Füssen. The time-honoured town has a long history, as evidenced by the historic old town, magnificent churches, medieval house facades and a well-preserved town wall. Numerous museums also tell of the more than 700-year history of the town, which impresses with its cultural diversity and hospitality. Many decorated shops invite you to stroll around, cosy traditional cafés to enjoy a fine piece of cake and stately inns for a hearty dinner. The biggest tourist highlight, however, is the fairytale Neuschwanstein Castle. It is located only a few kilometres from Füssen on a hill above Hohenschwangau and is one of the most important sights in Germany - even in winter! A winter hike up there takes a good hour from Füssen and is the ideal excursion for the whole family.

Winter sports enthusiasts will find a small skiing area on the nearby Tegelberg and nature and mountain lovers can discover the unspoilt nature of the Allgäu on ski tours and cross-country skis or on snowshoes. Füssen is without question a winter holiday destination of the very highest quality, both in terms of sport and culture!

Allgäu

The Allgäu is part of the region Oberschwaben and stretches from the south-western part of Bavaria to the south-eastern part of Baden-Württemberg and partly along the borders of Austria. It is situated right between lower Alps and the Bavarian hill country. With an altitude of up to 2,657 m the Allgäu offers the Nebelhorn as the highest and most well-known mountain of this area. It is not for nothing that this is one of the most popular tourist areas and main winter sports regions within Germany. For Alpine skiers there is a large offer of well-prepared pistes - both for beginners, as well for more experienced winter sports fans. Many of the slopes can be covered with artificial snow and offer reliability for skiing until the end of March. After a day on the pistes you can meet up in the many huts, cafés and pubs or even spend the night in the local clubs.
