Ski vacations Ebensee - winter paradise at the foot of the Feuerkogel!

Ebensee

The picturesque municipality of Ebensee lies on the southern shore of Lake Traunsee in the midst of a beautiful mountain landscape. At an altitude of 443 m, the holiday resort stretches from the local mountain Feuerkogel to the Upper Austrian Pre-Alps that begin to the east. Due to its good location, Ebensee is an optimal starting point for numerous excursion destinations and winter activities.

The traditional village is particularly popular among winter sports enthusiasts. The Feuerkogel ski area impresses with 16 kilometres of pistes and access to the versatile ski area is conveniently possible from Ebensee with the Feuerkogel cable car. However, the sports and leisure activities on offer in Ebensee and the surrounding area include even more fun activities. Nature lovers can enjoy wonderful walks along the Traunsee lake or a winter hike on well-signposted hiking trails. Those who have enough energy reserves after a varied day of skiing can go ice skating or curling at the Ebensee sports park. While those seeking peace and quiet will find what they are looking for in the Ebensee indoor swimming pool, culture lovers will get their money's worth thanks to the numerous sights in Ebensee, such as the Kalvarienberg Church. One thing is for sure: Ebensee is a manageable place with a great offer that makes the hearts of winter holidaymakers beat faster.

Traunsee

The holiday region of Salzkammergut lies at the northern edge of the Alps in Upper Austria, directly on the border of Styria and near the city of Salzburg. The region stretches from Lake Wolfgang over the Alm valley and the Dachstein Glacier through to the town of Salzburg's eastern edge. Due to the superb location at the foothills to the Alps and at the edge of the northern Limestone Alps, the landscape harbours 76 smaller and larger lakes, such as Lake Wolfgang, Moon Lake, Lake Atter and the Lake Traun. Countless mountains, including the Dachstein, Traunstein and the Höllengebirge, form a magical panorama. Numerous cave systems have formed here, and the longest cave in Austria, the Hirlatz cave, can be viewed at the Dachstein Glacier.

Not only nature lovers and those seeking relaxation get their moneys worth in the Salzkammergut region, but winter sports fans do too: the mountains, usually not too high, are covered in forest right up to the peaks and have a diverse range of pistes. Families in particular are well taken care of in the 20 different ski areas. The prosperity due to the salt made the region affluent, shown by lovely villas and castles in the towns and villages. Relaxation, cultural experiences and a diverse range of sports make it completely unique.
