Ski vacations Winter holiday in picturesque nature

The largely unspoilt province of Verbano Cusio Ossola covers the north-eastern corner of Piedmont and lies on the border with Switzerland and Lombardy. The many lakes lend the landscape an unrivalled charm, especially as Verbano Cusio Ossala largely borders the western shore of Lake Maggiore. Equally impressive is the summit landscape, criss-crossed by valleys and home to a number of modern ski resorts such as Varzo, Formazza and Piane di Vigezzo. A mecca for all kinds of winter sports! Skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and ice skating are just a few of the many possibilities.

At 1,420 to 2,500 metres, the "San Domenico Ski" ski area opens up the slopes of Pizzo Dosso. Almost 35 km of pistes and 7 lifts are available here for all winter sports enthusiasts. The easy and wide pistes make it easy for beginners to make their first turns on skis. In addition, the numerous demanding pistes are the perfect challenge for all advanced skiers. They have it all: with gradients of up to 55% and sharp bends, the slopes are often used by professional skiers. Freestylers will also find a varied area in the perfectly groomed "Sando Snowpark" thanks to the versatile obstacles.

If you want to discover even more exciting corners of Verbano Cusio Ossola, don't miss the UNESCO World Heritage-listed "Holy Mountains" in Ghiffa and Domodossola. The mixture of faith, history and nature makes these places something very special. One of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Alps, the Toce Waterfall, is located in Val Formazza and is also well worth a visit. Verbano Cusio Ossola also offers plenty of culinary delights. Specialities such as rye bread baked in a wood-fired oven, gnocchi all'ossolana, unusual cheeses and much more await holidaymakers in the province.
