Ski area Santa Caterina

In addition to Santa Caterina, the "Bormio" lift pass is also valid in the Cima Piazzi-San Colombano and Bormio ski areas and therefore covers 94 kilometres of piste. In addition to the altitude of the ski areas (1,225-3,012 metres), various snowmaking systems also ensure a particularly high reliability of snow. Santa Caterina, which hosted the World Ski Championships in 1985 and 2005, has 24 kilometres of pistes, most of which are of medium difficulty. The lifts, including two modern eight-seater gondolas, take you comfortably to the ski area.

The biggest challenge is the two-kilometre-long black descent "Adler" with 600 metres of altitude difference. The black piste "Deborah Compagnoni", named after the world champion, is also only for professionals. The longest descent in Santa Caterina measures an impressive 3.7 kilometres and has a difference in altitude of 1,000 metres.

Snowboarders can head to the snowpark and freeride areas in Bormio. The pistes in Cima Piazzi-San Colombano, on the other hand, are easier and perfect for a family outing.

Rules of conduct on ski pistes in Italy

To use the ski areas, you must have valid liability insurance that covers damage or injury to third parties. This can also be taken out on site for individual days. Skiing while intoxicated (0.05% or higher BAC) is prohibited and is punishable by heavy fines. To reduce the risk of injury, wearing a helmet is compulsory for everyone (regardless of age, on all ski runs, in snow parks and on toboggan runs). Anyone who does not comply with the helmet requirement will be fined or banned from the slopes.

Après ski Santa Caterina

In the small village of Santa Caterina, things are a little quieter than in the better-known neighbouring village of Bormio. Nevertheless, "après ski" is not a foreign word here! Various rustic huts, cosy cafés and restaurants tempt you with regional and national specialities. The sun terraces in the ski area invite you to enjoy a drink after the last descent. The local disco is the place to meet up late at night to party. The neighbouring towns of Bormio and Livigno also offer plenty of choice, so there's no need to miss out on nightlife.

Alternatively, you can go ice skating on the natural ice rink, play tennis or go indoor climbing. Those interested in culture can visit one of the museums or spend an evening at the cinema. Nature lovers can visit the huge Stelvio National Park and enjoy the unspoilt nature and diverse flora and fauna.

Snowpark Santa Caterina: Snowpark Bormio

As the venue for the World Ski Championships, Santa Caterina is a perfect area for experts. But is this also true for freestylers? Yes, but they have to head to nearby Bormio. With its two different lines, the "Snowpark Bormio - The Jungle" has something to offer for every riding level. The easy line with various fun boxes and a jump line with four consecutive jumps is perfect for beginners. Advanced riders and pros, on the other hand, will feel right at home on the Medium Line. Various obstacles are available here, from a "Pole Jam", "Half Funtube", "Mushroom", "Funtube", "Mailbox" and an "Industrial Rail" to a jump line and three "Snow Waves".

A shaper team ensures perfect conditions in the park every day and puts their heart and soul into a creative setup. Sounds good, right? We think so too!
