Ski vacations Valle di Casies - winter paradise in picturesque nature!

Valle di Casies

The Italian municipality of Valle di Casies, with the three villages of Pichl, St. Martin and St. Magdalena, lies in the east of South Tyrol, between the foothills of the Rieserferner Group and the Defregger Alps. Only about 2,300 inhabitants live in the enchanting, traditionally shaped villages, most of which are located at altitudes between just under 1,200 m and about 1,500 m. The villages are situated in the heart of the Alps. Scattered farms, wide meadows and rustic alpine huts blend into the breathtaking landscape of the Dolomites. Gourmets and nature lovers will definitely get their money's worth here, but Valle di Casies is also ideal for hikers and winter sports enthusiasts. Numerous hiking trails, a wide selection of cross-country skiing trails and the nearby Plan de Corones ski area guarantee exciting excursions. Every year, the largest sporting event in South Tyrol takes place in Valle di Casies: the Gsiesertal Lauf. This popular ski marathon has been attracting numerous sports enthusiasts to the idyllic Valle di Casies every year since 1984.

Plan de Corones (Kronplatz)

At the foot of the Plan de Corones (2,275 m), in the centre of the picturesque Val Pusteria, are 14 diverse and attractive South Tyrolean villages. Modern gondolas start from various stations and speed up to the peak, from which imposing 360-degree views unfold. Diverse sporting events take place here on a regular basis, e.g. the Val Pusteria ski marathons including the Valle di Casies run, the biggest sporting event in South Tyrol. 120 kilometres of piste, approx. 32 modern lifts, a half-pipe, as well as ample recreational and sporting opportunities and lively après ski ensure a good deal off piste! This ski area is also great for families, thanks to numerous facilities such as the "Croniworld".
