Ski vacations Todtmoos – centre of dog-sledge sports!

Todtmoos

In the heart of the southern Black Forest nature park, embedded in the steep, forested Wehra valley, lies the spa resort Todtmoos. Surrounded by lovely valleys, wild canyons and softly flowing hills, you can experience a unique landscape here. Todtmoos has made a name for itself not only as a popular spa resort, but also a place of pilgrimage (since the 15th century!). The legend about an appearance of Mary, has spread across the borders long ago. The baroque-style church "to our beloved maiden" is still one of the most popular pilgrim sites.

Todtmoos however has found a second reason to become a popular destination: at 820 m altitude, winter sports fans can find ideal conditions for a relaxing and entertaining holiday in the snow. Not only the four ski lifts and the close proximity to the winter sports centre of the Black Forest, the Feldberg, ensure unlimited fun in the snow. Together with Bernau, Todtmoos has developed into a centre for dog-sledging sports. The annual, international races and training camps always take place here. In 2003, the two resorts were chosen as the venue for the World Championship. You therefore might come across the one of the other training session.

Black Forest

Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte (Black Forest cherry cake), Cuckoo clocks and the "Bollenhut" (traditional women's hat) - all this is typical for the Black Forest region and enjoys world-wide recognition. 160 km long and approx. 60 km wide is the expanse of this central German mountain range, covering 11,400 m² in close proximity to Switzerland and France. The Black Forest, with its more than 70 peaks over 1,000 m altitude, is the highest of the German central mountain ranges. Sporty Alpine skiers, expectant cross-country goers, loves of good wine and cuisine and all those looking for some relaxation and pampering, are welcome to experience the benefits of the Black Forest.
