Ski vacations Schönau - idyll at Königssee!

Schönau am Königssee

Schönau, Germany's south-easternmost municipality, is located on the edge of the Berchtesgaden National Park and directly on the idyllic Königssee lake, at an altitude of around 630 metres. To the east and south, the mighty mountain ranges of the Hoher Göll, Hagengebirge and Steinernes Meer rise up like a stone border wall – the common border with the neighbouring province of Salzburg. Just one kilometre from the Jenner and close to Berchtesgaden, Schönau is an ideal destination for a successful winter holiday. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, everyone will find the right slope here!

Schönau offers its guests a wide range of activities away from the slopes: from bobsleigh taxis and hang-gliding to numerous activities on Lake Königssee – there is something for everyone here! Schönau is also an ideal starting point for winter hikes through snow-covered forests with impressive views of the mountains.

Berchtesgadener Land

The romantic Berchtesgadener Land region lies before the impressive panorama of the 2,713-metre-high Watzmann massif in Berchtesgaden National Park. Surrounded by a mountain range ranging from 2,000 to 2,700 metres in height, this Upper Bavarian region offers peace and tranquillity. The Berchtesgadener Land has five separate ski areas, which are combined in the lift pass of the same name. With around 40 kilometres of slopes between 795 and 1,554 metres above sea level and 22 lifts, the best skiing fun is guaranteed. The Berchtesgadener Land is internationally renowned for its World Cup-standard downhill runs and as a venue for world championships in luge, bobsleigh and snowboarding.

From the 24/25 season onwards, however, there will no longer be any groomed slopes available on the Jenner. Nevertheless, the ride on the modernised Jennerbahn cable car is still included in the lift pass. In addition, you can use the new, approx. 1.4-kilometre-long toboggan run from the mountain station, explore the surrounding area on the snowshoe trail to the "Vorderen Pfaffenkegel" or try out the groomed winter hiking trail around the Speicherweiher pond.
