Cross-country skiing enthusiasts are in exactly the right place in St. Johann! Around St. Johann, Erpfendorf, Kirchdorf and Oberndorf, there are 170 km of groomed trails of all levels of difficulty, 86 km of which are suitable for skating.
The 13 km Hinterkaiserloipe is recommended exclusively for experienced cross-country skiers. Beginners and leisurely skiers can enjoy the Reithamloipe on the valley floor around the sports airfield. There is a high-altitude trail in Kirchdorf: the 3.13 km-long Gasteig high-altitude trail. In addition, the 1.5 km-long Lärchenhof trail in Erpfendorf and the 1 km-long Kramerhof trail in Gasteig/Kirchdorf can be covered with artificial snow. There are also two floodlit trails.
