Ski vacations Maria Luggau - Idyllic Mühldorf in the Lesach Valley!
Maria Luggau
Little Maria Luggau lies in the wildly beautiful nature of the Lesach Valley. The historic village is known for three things: old water mills, the magnificent basilica and, above all, a dreamlike winter holiday. Maria Luggau has been a well-known place of pilgrimage since the 16th century. The historic monastery complex and the pilgrimage church of Maria Schnee in the village centre - the only basilica in Carinthia - bear witness to this! In addition, the everyday life of the people of Luggau is characterised by the miller's trade. Five old water mills are still in operation today, thanks to the millers' association, and grind fresh grain. In the farm shop, around 60 farmers from the area sell the fresh bread and other delicacies. The Luggauer live freely according to the motto "always with the calm". This is also felt by the guests in this sacred place, where peace and security are at home. In winter, the homely atmosphere is even more pronounced. Then there is nothing better than trudging through the quiet winter landscape and enjoying nature. For active sportsmen, the nearest skiing area is about 10 km west of the village.
Lesachtal
The Gail Valley stretches from East Tyrol to Carinthia, between Tilliach and Villach. The valley's appeal lies primarily in its unspoilt nature and the contrast between the flat, wide valley floor and the partly rugged mountain slopes. The Lesach Valley, the Carinthian part of the Gail Valley, stretches for about 20 kilometres parallel to the border between Austria and Italy, bordered by the Gailtal Alps and the foothills of the Lienz Dolomites in the north and the Gailtal Alps in the south. The Lesach Valley is considered the "most unspoilt valley in Europe" and is a paradise for hikers and winter sports enthusiasts. They can reach the most beautiful ski areas south of the Alps in a maximum of 55 minutes. With numerous routes in avalanche-safe areas, the region offers ideal conditions for ski tourers and snowshoe hikers. The valley's culture is mainly influenced by its farming tradition.Travel Maria Luggau
