Ski area Sonnenkopf

The "Sonnenkopf" ski area (1,000 - 2,300 m) gives you access to 30 kilometres of pistes and 11 lifts. Favoured by the topographical location, the pistes are perfectly accessible until well into spring and do not require any snow-making equipment.

The predominantly blue and red slopes in the clearly laid out ski area are particularly suitable for families. Youngsters are in good hands in Schneemannland, where they can not only make their first turns under expert guidance, but also toboggan or build snowmen.

Experts will also find their challenge at Sonnenkopf - both on and off the slopes. With a length of 11 km, the Vermalen downhill requires a lot of stamina, and the slope into the "Bäraloch" is not for the faint-hearted: with a gradient of 60 percent, the 1.5 km long run is one of the steepest downhill runs in Austria. Off-piste freeriders will not only find almost 4 km of ski routes, popular among them are the Verwall in the east and the Silbertal in the west. Among freestylers, the ski area appeals especially to beginners. They find their territory in the Beginner Fun Park.

With the "SkiArlberg" ski pass, winter sports enthusiasts have a total of 302 kilometres of pistes and 88 lifts at their disposal. Thanks to the connection with the Flexenbahn, the Trittkopfbahn I and II and the Albonabahn II, the ski areas of St. Anton, Stuben, Zürs and Warth-Schröcken around Klösterle are seamlessly accessible on skis or board. This makes "SkiArlberg" the largest ski area in Austria. (see ski region)

Après ski Klösterle

An optimal balance between alpine tranquillity and lively après-ski is what winter sports enthusiasts can experience in Klösterle. If you like, you can round off the evening at the end of a sunny ski day with a good meal in one of the cosy restaurants in the village. Directly at the valley station at Sonnenkopf, on the other hand, there is the opportunity to toast with a hot or cold drink in the popular Kelobar. Events with live acts also take place here regularly.

Instead of a lively party life, the places in the Klostertal have all the more to offer off the slopes. The Sonnenkopf, for example, is not only a paradise for skiers. A 2 km long toboggan run leads from the mountain station to the middle station. Hikers will find three winter hiking trails on the sunny high plateau, including one of the most beautiful in the whole of Vorarlberg: the trail to the summit cross at Muttjöchle (2,074 m) used to be reserved for snowshoe hikers and ski tourers. Now you can also reach the summit without any aids - and enjoy a wonderful 360-degree view of the surrounding mountains. The particularly brave, on the other hand, are drawn to the Fallbach waterfall, where you will find Austria's longest continuous ice route in winter. Ice climbers can let off steam here over a length of 700 m.

Those who like it quieter can enjoy the silence and sea salt brine steam in the Vorarlberg Salt Grotto. The grotto was blasted into the rock in Dalaas and lined with 44 tonnes of Himalayan salt.

Snowpark: Funpark Sonnenkopf Klösterle

At Sonnenkopf, a small area has been created in the middle of the ski area, especially for freestyle beginners.
