The area is ideal for families with children as well as demanding skiers. The most beautiful pistes can be found below the Speiereck, which - with the exception of the glacier ski areas - is the highest point in Salzburg that can be reached by lift. The comprehensive snow-making facilities guarantee reliability of snow when the temperatures are right.
The new "Lungo Winter Card" ski pass introduced for the 2025/2026 season gives you access to over 250 kilometres of piste in the 4 ski areas of Katschberg/Aineck, Grosseck/Speiereck, Fanningberg and Obertauern as well as the Lessach, Zederhaus, Schönfeld and Krakau lifts.

Night skiing is regularly offered on the practice slope in Mauterndorf.A special offer is also the possibility of ski touring with floodlighting on the Grosseck - every Wednesday from 4 - 8.30 pm the descent is open for ski tourers!

Alternatives to skiing can also be found. The floodlit winter hiking trail is ideal for a relaxing walk to the historic town centre of Mauterndorf. You can also plan a detour to Mauterndorf Castle. The 500 metre-long, floodlit toboggan run is a faster option. Or do your laps on the natural ice rink. Mauterndorf also has a varied weekly programme to keep you entertained.
For those who want to take it a little easier, a trip to nearby Tamsweg is a good idea. The BadeINSEL spa centre there has an indoor pool as well as a sauna and wellness area.

In the Katschberg-Aineck ski area, there is a small but excellent fun park where both beginners and freestyle experts will feel right at home. Various obstacles such as rails and boxes, a corner and even a (small) half-pipe await you.
