Ski area Hochkönig

The lift pass "Ski amadé" gives you access to a jaw-dropping 760 km of piste and 270 lifts (see ski region). In other words, one single lift pass allows you to use the piste in the regions "Salzburger Sportwelt", "Schladming-Dachstein", "Gastein", "Hochkönig" and "Großarltal". You will definitely get your money’s worth here!

The local ski area of Maria Alm, "Hochkönig" (2, 941 m), is particularly well-known for its guarantee of snow. And if the snow does not fall as expected then snow machines, snow cannons, piste equipments and snow-making pond will make sure you have undisturbed skiing fun. 120 km of well-prepared pistes and 35 modern lifts are available at the child-friendly ski area. The hardest piste is the 1 km long Hochmaist descent. However, there are more challenging slopes at Aberg-Langeck (1, 900 m), but beginners get to join in the fun here, too. The piste at the Simmer lift is lit several times per week so you can stay in your boots for some night skiing. The snow park at Aberg with tables, slides and jumps is perfect for freestyle fans. Furthermore, the place offers some good freeriding opportunities. There is a ski bus that runs between the individual areas and which is free to all lift pass bearers.

The Königstour in the Hochkönig ski area is a beautiful ski route - and one of the longest in the Alps. The total length of 32 km can be explored in only one day, making it an ideal day excursion for the whole family. Since 2012, the Königstour connects the ski areas of Mühlbach, Dienten and Maria Alm. The Königstour was voted the winner of the best ski circuit 2014 by the website skiresort.de - the largest testing portal for ski areas worldwide.

Do you want to share your skiing day experiences with family and friends? No problem! In the Hochkönig ski area, several Wi-Fi hotspots are available to use. These provide you with uncomplicated and free-of-charge internet connections in fun parks, lift stations and ski huts. The Kings Cab is Austrias first mountain railway that is equipped with a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Austria offers numerous poosibilities to go night skiing, also in Maria Alm at Hochkönig. Several times a week the piste at Simmerl lift is illuminated for night time skiing from 18:30 - 21:30. Apart from the piste where you can enjoy relaxed night time skiing fun, the Beginnerspark Natrun invites freestylers to let off steam. The evening pass for night skiing is available in resort. Those who have the "Hochkönig Card" guest card can go night skiing for free once per stay.

Another highlight in the evening is the snow show in the "Magic Area" at Simmerl lift which takes place from the end of December until mid-March every Tuesday from 21:00. Here you can enjoy formation skiing, freestyle and stunt performances as well as a torch relay and fireworks. Free admission.
