From the summit of the famous mountain Säntis (2,502 m), visitors can see no less than six countries: Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, France and Italy. The canton is divided into four tourist regions: Zürich Lake, the metropolis St. Gallen, Toggenburg with its gentle hilly landscape, and Heidiland with the skier's paradise Flumser Mountain. The well-known ski areas of St. Gallen lie in the South of the canton: apart from Flumser Mountains, you have Pizol and the Wildhaus-Unterwasser-Alt-St. Johann, which mainly attracts families.

Canton Glarus in the East of Switzerland stands out for its incredibly diverse landscapes. From flat valley grounds with beautiful blue waters like the Klöntal or the Walen lakes to the high alpine terrain with glaciated peaks at 3,600 m altitude, holiday makers will find a varied paradise in the Alps. The municipalities Glarus North and Glarus South lie in the narrow valley between the mountain Kärpf (2,794 m) and the majestic Glarn Alps with its Glärnisch massif that reaches almost 3,000 m. Altogether, the Glarn Alps count 50 three-thousander peaks, thus promising a terrific view for every visitor.

The canton is situated geographically central in the canton's capital Glarus, which is known as the smallest capital in Switzerland with its 12,000 inhabitants. The idyllic side valleys like the Sernf or Klön Valley offer a good variety of fantastic excursions right on the doorstep. Especially the Klön Valley is often referred to as one of the most beautiful landscapes in the Alps.
