Cross-country Hohenwarth
In the region Bavarian Forest, the conditions are generally ideal for cross-country skiing, which is the reason why a comprehensive network of trails has developed here - of course with an access point in Hohenwart. The 3 km long valley trail is actually a round-course running along the fields of the resort Thening, and along the souther rim of the Hohenbogen. A great view of the valley can be enjoyed from here.
A 5.5 km long, easy to intermediate trail however leads via the neighbouring resorts Hudlach and Eschlsaign, right over to Eck. From here you also have access to the approx. 30 km long Auerhahn trail, with leads up to 1,200 m altitude to the cross-country centre of Bretterschachten, at the foot of the Große Arber.
