Après ski Hintertux
The après ski programme at the Hintertux Glacier is huge: The "Hohenhaus-Tenne" at the valley station invites you in a bit earlier for your first drink of the evening. Afterwards, several discos and bars invite you in to party the night away. The "Tux 1" in Hintertux often has German "Schlager" music stars stop by. Moreover, the Tuxer night bus offers safe transport back to the accommodations. The leisure time activities selection in Hintertux is quite large as well. A Toboggans await you at the top of the 3 km long tobogganing run at the Bichlalm - with your choice to spend the evening in a hut afterwards. Further tobogganing fun can be found on two illuminated night runs in Lanersbach and Juns. Several other illuminated hiking trails begin in Hintertux, some among others towards the toboggan run at the Bichlalm or along the Tux cross-country trail. Ice skating and curling is possible in Tux on the natural ice rink, of which also happens to be illuminated. The local pubs and taverns in resort make sure to help you experience a cosy evening, sometimes with the possibility of playing darts, billiards or table football.
A unique mountain experience awaits you high up on top of the Hintertux Glacier. Ride the "Gletscherbus 3" lift up to the "Gefrorene Wand" mountain station and head out onto the panoramic terrace at 3,250 m altitude, where you can take in excellent views of the Großglockner and the Dolomites from Southern Tyrol to the Zugspitze. Another alternative is to get off at the Spannagel Cave, one of the most important caves in Tyrol with a shaft length of 10 km and a depth of up to 25 m. Those who prefer to ride even farther should take a ride with the nostalgic Zillertal Railway through the wintry landscapes. The nearest train station lies in Mayrhofen, about 20 km away from Hintertux.
