Ski area Obergurgl/Hochgurgl

As of the 2018/2019 winter season, when booking a lift pass valid for 3 or more days, you will automatically receive the "Ötztaler Superskipass" lift pass, which grants you unlimited access to the ski areas of Sölden, Obergurgl-Hochgurgl, Hochoetz-Kühtai, Niederthai, Gries and Vent. The selection available therefore increases to 356 km of piste and 90 lifts (see ski region)!

The 2 days lift pass Obergurgl-Hochgurgl is valid for the same-named ski area at the end of the Ötztal at an altitude of 1,793 - 3,082 m. Thanks to the high altitude and the modern snow-making devices it's not surprising that this area has the reputation of having the most snow-sure skiing area in the Alps! With the lift pass you have access to 110 kilometres of piste and 25 lifts. Up to 99% of the pistes are accessible to the snow-making devices, therefore the lifts are open from November to May! The "Top-Express-Gurgl" gondola connects the two skiing areas – the ride of 3.6 km takes just 9 minutes. During this time you can just relax and enjoy the magnificent glacier scenery!

Not to be missed: the "Top Mountain Crosspoint", of which opened back during the 2015/2016 winter season. The modern construct serves three functions: It is the valley station of the Kirchenkarbahn Sektion I lift with a table service restaurant, a toll station for the Timmelsjocher Hochstraße (high alpine road) and, with its "Mountain Motorcycle Museum", it is the highest-lying motorcycle museum in Europe. The modern, multifunctional complex is architecturally designed to resemble a snow drift.

Starting from the 2018/2019 winter season, there will be a new highlight: The Kirchenkarbahn Section II lift which connects skiers to a whole new area. The ski area has an additional approx. 2 km of piste that they can call all their own. When heading out from the present mountain station of the Section I, you'll conquer an additional 210 m altitude. The new mountain station of the Kirchenkarbahn Sektion II is therefore located at an altitude of 2,839 m.

The broad slopes of Hochgurgl are ideal for beginners. Obergurgl is more demanding but also offers a few blue runs. Advanced skiers get their kicks at the "Hohen Mut" (high courage) at Obergurgl – the most demanding slope of the Ötztal with its mogul piste and extremely steep run!

Boarders can find a snow park at the Bruggenboden lift with that gives you adrenaline on 2 different lines and almost 20 obstacles. Numerous great free ride areas at e.g. Wurmkogel and Festkogel, as well as on the Hohe Mut also ensure all kinds of fun and action.

Night skiing Obergurgl - Hochgurgl

In Oetz Valley, Austria, you will find several pistes that can be used for night skiing and that are opened after the lifts' regular operation hours. The night ski area Obergurgl-Hochgurgl also offers this unique experience, so that skiing fun does not need to end at sunset. One night ski piste can be found at the Hochgurglbahn I lift in Hochgurgle. Over there the lifts operate for night skiing every Thursday in December. The Festkoglbahn lift in Obergurgl opens once per week for night skiing. A spectacular night ski show presented by the Obergurgl Ski School starts on Festkogl.

Après ski Obergurgl - Hochgurgl

It might not be as busy here as in Sölden (just 20 km away), but that doesn't mean you can't have plenty of fun here. The two villages are well-known for the "ski hut culture": Numerous huts welcome you to relax and enjoy this very traditional après ski. You certainly shouldn't miss out on visiting the "Nederhütte" – not only do they offer regional specialities, there is also a varied programme of entertainment including live music, cosy hut evenings and parties on a daily basis. Furthermore, there are a handful of bars and pubs at the Hochgurglalm, such as the sports bar ice-berg by Arnold.

If you're looking for fun off the pistes you might enjoy winter hiking, snowshoeing, curling or ice skating. Several times a week you can take part in a night skiing trip. The "Freizeit Arena" (leisure centre) in Sölden is also worth a trip, here you'll find a leisure paradise: pool complex, sauna area, relaxation baths, indoor sports and a skittles alley! A further highlight is to be found in Hochgurgl: the 700 m² indoor golf complex!

Snowpark: Quattro Snow Park Obergurgl - Hochgurgl

In the ski area Obergurgl-Hochgurgl there is a snowpark at the Bruggenboden lift with a special feature: it's shaped by an exclusively all-women crew!

For the heart of the Fun Mountain in Obergurgl, the crew was increased to provide perfect conditions for all those who love to shred. With at least 18 varied obstacles, the park offers an exciting set-up and gives the ski area its finishing touch.

Back where the snowpark used to be, the Familypark can now be found: here, younger freestylers and freestyle beginners can get their money's worth. The snowpark can now be found at the Steinmannbahn lift and has even increased in size during the course of changing location! Events, contests and even a "Girls-Day" take place regularly and round off the selection of what's on offer. In addition there is also a Funslope in the ski area which is suitable for both young and old.
