The idyllic mountain village Adelboden is situated in western Bernese Oberland at an altitude of 1,353 m. Tradition is a top priority here, allowing small shops with regional specialities to beat out large supermarkets until this day. All the same, modern amenities lie hidden behind the traditional wooden façades. The first Swiss ski race, the Adelboden world cup race, was held in 1903.
