Winter holiday with children
What is the most important thing for a successful winter holiday with children? "Snow!" is the first thought that comes to mind. Of course, which child does not want to jump around in the snow, take an exciting toboggan adventure or glide down the slopes on skis? Once shown the first steps of skiing, most kids will hardly want to part from this great adventure sport.
Ski resort, which specialise on family holidays mostly offers kids clubs, ski kindergarten and a good selection of easy, blue pistes. Older children and teenagers are also well catered for and will find modern installations, such as snow parks, timing runs, chillout zones, Wi-Fi areas and photo points.
But what if the weather is bad and skiing is not the day's programme? No problem: top ski resorts offer a diverse and enjoyable entertainment programme, including e.g. horse-drawn sleigh rides, snow-shoe hikes, toboggan runs, curling and much more. Generally there is also an activity pool or thermal baths in the resort or close-by. Of course culinary diversity is also given everywhere.

Flachau is known as a very innovative ski area and offer over 202 km of piste and 45 lift systems. Practice pistes, ski kindergarten and children's ski lessons with various focuses are absolutely normal here. Kaltenbach - a family's treasure
In the ski area Hochfügen-Hochzillertal there 181 km of piste, 38 lift and really good snow conditions. Besides a good mixture of pistes with all levels of difficulties, the "Almdudler Bretterpark" with it's 100 m long super-pipe offer pure entertainment. SkiMovie systems, skiline terminal and special apps attract the young people. Ellmau - fully family-approved
The Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental is Austria's largest interconnected ski area. With 279 km of piste, as well as 91 km lifts the area attracts tourist from everywhere. Especially for families the Astenberg with 10 mostly easy and intermediate pistes, as well as a 4.5 km long toboggan run. Snow park, photo points, skimovie pistes and time-tracking runs bring lots of diversity into the day. Meiringen - families welcome
The ski area Meiringen-Hasliberg has been awarded the "Family welcome" certificate. If offers over 14 lifts and 60 km of piste, which are mainly blue and red. In the "Skihäsliland" the little ones playfully learn how to master moving forward on skis. In the kids park "Käserstatt" they can then continue practising. Hungry? Then take a ride up to the panoramic restaurant "Alpen tower" located at 2,250 m altitude. Tobogganing, air boarding, guided snow-shoe hikes, the Sherlock Holmes museum and a visit to the hydro-electric power station Grimsel are only a few of the possible activities for old and young. More
