Garmisch-Partenkirchen lies at an altitude of approx. 707 m at the foot of the Wetterstein mountain range. At the site of the 1936 Winter Olympics, there is still a very unique atmosphere. In addition to the 1936 Olympic Games, Garmisch-Partenkirchen also hosted the 1978 and 2011 FIS Alpine Ski Championships.
